DESCRIPTION
The Engineering Internship provides an opportunity to get hands on experience in the field, drafting and design, sales, estimation, and project management. The Internship will be for Summer 2024 with possibility to work during the school year.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is pursuing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in Architectural Engineering - with a Building Systems specialization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take off sets of plans for estimates (counting fixtures, measuring piping and ductwork).
- Filling out permits, plan approval forms, etc. in a timely manner.
- 2D & 3D HVAC & Plumbing CAD shop drawings & as built.
- Taking measurements of walls, steel, pipes & ductwork in the field and coordinating ductwork and piping around in AutoCAD and/or REVIT.
- Organize project documents and put together submittal binders.
- Interact with vendors, contractors, and customers on the phone and at jobsites.
- Take part in commercial sales visits and drafting sales proposals.
- Fabricate ductwork using sheet metal and install systems in the field.
- Perform all other duties assigned to this role.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
- Experienced drawing in AutoCAD REVIT.
- Knowledgeable in HVAC system types, system selection, performance characteristics and applications of different system types.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings of multiple trades.
- Ability to interact with field personnel, other trades and office staff and incorporate information into drawings.
- Knowledge of building code requirements.
- Knowledge of how to read blueprints.
